Cake Ring!
While I drool over the Marco Bicego rings, this fun cake ring from Fred Flare is more in my budget. It's especially appropriate because of my love for birthdays and baking fun cakes!
Marco Bicego
A lady I babysit for has a beautiful Marco Bicego amethyst ring that I admire every time I see her. I have since researched him and he has become my new obsession. Perhaps one day I can invest in one of these beauties!

Amy Tavern
As usual, I was "playing internet" and came across Amy Tavern. Amy got her BFA in metal design from the University of Washington in 2002- she has since given lectures and taught classes around the country and is currently a resident at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina. Its amazing how small the Crafts (fine crafts- not as in arts and crafts) world is! Many of my professors and fellow students have attended and/or taught at Penland. Amy's work is delightfully simple with a nice aesthetic. She has a great website and blog- check her out!
A Family Treasure
Last weekend, when I was home for the fourth, I visited my Grandparents- which always promises to be a delightfully hilarious event. While visiting with my Grandmother, she showed me the most amazing quilt pieces that have yet to be pieced together and quilted. It turns out, my Great-Grandmother Sarah made these pieces over 70 years ago! The fabric and technique is beautiful, not to mention very sentimental. My Grandmother gave me the twelve quilt pieces (the best gift in the world) and I plan to make a beautiful, traditional quilt. I plan to be very meticulous in the construction so I expect it will take quite a while, however, I will post progress and final pictures!
Here's a sneak peak of the wonderful pieces!

Golly Bard
I stumbled upon Golly Bard while perusing through one of my favorite blogs; Modish. After I looked through her Etsy page at her incredible original watercolors, I went on to look at her blog. After looking through her blog and various pictures, I realized that some of the scenery was rather familiar- turns out she's a fellow Virginian! I love her approach to her work, her colors choice and texture are truly beautiful. Please enjoy her work and fun blog!
Screen Printing!
I have all of these fun screens that I made last semester that aren't being used, so I decided to screen print some t-shirts. I already had this hot pink pigment around my apartment so I decided to play with it on my pale pink boyfriend tee. I'm thinking about adding some embroidery embellishment... we shall see! The pictures are pretty horrible but you can get the idea. My next project will be to print on a navy blue dress. Stay posted!

A Wonderful Fourth!
We had an amazing weekend in Lexington! Friday night we headed to Hull's Drive In- where we were sure we wouldn't get in, but were hopeful and amazingly made it in (although just barely)- they turned away several hundred cars! We saw "UP" which was wonderful- it was hilarious and adorable. I recommend it to everyone!
Saturday morning we woke up early and headed out to Goshen for a full day on the river. We brought Kenny's chicken and celebrated the fourth with some great people.

Late Saturday afternoon we headed to another river spot to meet up with my Dad, Jayne, and family for a cook out on the river. It was lots of fun- especially since we had my brothers to entertain us.
My brothers and cousin were doing this crazy thing where they would run and do a flip then land on the float in the water- they were able to do this without even wetting their hair.
My awesome brothers and I.
Evan living the American dream.

And now I'm back in Richmond, cozy in my bed on a rainy day. This weekend couldn't have been more perfect!

After dinner we went home and cleaned up and then headed to the balloon rally for fireworks with my mom- unfortunately it started raining so we headed home (I'm not such a fan of the rain) but it was nice to relax for a bit before heading over to Sarah Paxton's welcome home party- since she has been studying in France for 6 months!

Happy 4th!
This time last year, I was in New York city for the 4th. My friend Holly was living in Brooklyn for the summer, so it was a perfect excuse to escape to New York. We had an incredible and eventful day, including the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest- in which there was an eat off between Japanese Kobayashi and American Joey Chesnut who pulled through in the end to make American proud. This year I'll be taking things easy as I head home to my quaint home town nestled in the mountains. I plan to have a full day at the river and then head to the Balloon Rally for some fireworks- all in good company. So I will be signing off for a few days- Happy 4th everyone!
